Yellowknife Slo-Pitch: A Cure for Isolation!
Posted on 25. Jul, 2009 by Shane in Slo-Pitch, Sports & Recreation
Living in Yellowknife presents some mental and physical challenges with some great solutions to overcome them. As you may have guessed (or have heard), living North of the 60th parallel will feel a little isolating or extremely isolating at times (depending on the time of year, how cold it is or the bug factor). For some that isolation is unbearable. But for others the isolation is an opportunity to get involved.
Sourcing out activities to keep your mind busy and your body active is not hard to find because almost anyone you meet in Yellowknife is involved in something and they will often ask you to join. And in Yellowknife one of those activities you may get invited to is slo-pitch softball. Looking below you can view some photos of one such slo-pitch game in action between the slo-pitch men’s division teams the Defenders and Thumbs Sandblasting. Click here to view a video of a home run at this game by the game winners (the Defenders).

I love your pictures!! Well I love baseball so that is no surprise to me – when you get to the games sheet shot it’s all taken back in time, Fritz Thiel – the Fenway of Yellowknife
I would like to see a little League of thier Own action now, some of the ladies swinging away!
