Having worked at both Fuego and Twist last summer, as well as witnessing the construction, set up and opening of Twist, I can safely say that both establishments meet and excel standards for health and safety. I did not encounter one single questionable practice, surface or kitchen implement during the entire course of my employment. Having worked in the service industry for over six years, from sports bars to fine dining establishments, I can say from experience that Fuego and Twist are among the top restaurants I've had the pleasure of serving at in terms of atmosphere, management, cleanliness and quality of food.

I find your comment regarding the prices at Twist to be quite humorous. Coming from Montreal, I found that groceries in Yellowknife were almost three times as expensive, whereas the prices at Twist are comparable to any restau-lounge in the downtown Montreal area, or any other restaurant in Yellowknife, for that matter.

It seems as though your personal bias has left a bad taste in your mouth - perhaps this is the reason you didn't enjoy your experience at Twist?

Let just say I have more information about the previous restaurant the crew from Twist will ever want posted. Don't take my word for it though. If dirty kitchens don't gross you out enough the lack of flavour and over peppering won't impress you much either. If you ate this food anywhere else in the world it wouldn't be rated best of anything. I say pay for the groceries and make the same at home for less. Unless you like to waist money for a little drizzle on the plate. Saying twist is the best restaurant is far fetched. I give them an A+ for consistently disappointing food, but don't lie to people. People who know good food and don't want to be disappointed don't bother.

To the previous poster, actually, there was serious water damage to the oldown landing kitchen, which might account for how it looked. You should have all of the information before judging the place, I would still eat there as it is the best restaurant in Yellowknife!

FYI the "chef" was at le frolic before oldtown landing.. and if you saw how they left the kitchen at the oldtown landing for this resturant, you would never ever ever eat there.

I was confused by the "Le Fuego" comment on this site. We visited the establishment and were informed by the staff that the owner is the previous chef from the Oldtown Landing (nothing to do with Le Frolic whatsoever). Even comparing the two one is demonstrated that they are completely different styles and level of dining. In fact, if you note one thing, Le Frolic is French, whereas Fuego is Spanish and World influenced, so it puzzled me to see that these two were confused with eachother. I would never do Fuego or Twist the disgrace of categorizing it with Le Frolic.
