The Aurora Fiddle Society performs in downtown Yellowknife

In late September members of the Aurora Fiddle Society gathered in downtown Yellowknife  to perform outside of the Yellowknife Canada Post Office. The fiddle and guitar ensemble captured the attention of many perdestrians as they passed by. The performers included: Peter Rybchinski, Albert Eggenbergger (fiddle), Gladys Eggenbergger (spoons), Claire Marchildon (fiddle), Leanne Jaeb (fiddle), Ben Russo (guitar), Ryan McCord (guitar), Steven Shen (fiddle) and Carolyn Smith (fiddle).

According to the Auroa Fiddle Society’s website, they were registered as an official society Under the NWT Societies Act in January 2008. The website also said: “prior to that we were operating under the auspices of ‘Strings Across the Sky’ that was founded by Andrea Hansen of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 1987 in Inuvik”.
