REVIEW: The Yummy Cafe in Yellowknife
Posted on 28. Aug, 2009 by Shane in Local Profiles, Restaurants, Reviews
What can I say. I have an addiction to yummy food. And what better place to feed that food addiction than the hub of yum yumminess itself - the Yummy Cafe in Yellowknife! This week alone I have visited the cafe no less than twice a day to stock up on goodies and sample hot food made from scratch. The cafe is filled with spanakopitas, cream puffs, cookies, pizza, red velvet cupcakes, soup, sandwiches, fruit cascades and much more. According to Judy (owner), Jessica, Jordan and Jason (the four J’s who run the place), all the food is made from scratch with healthy ingredients – no additives, no sodium and no pre-packaged food can be found here.
Overall I thought it was a creative spread of baking, custom cakes, deli foods and hot dishes served up fresh on the spot – perfect for lunch and take out. They are also a cake shop and do special order cake designs for all kinds of occasions like weddings.
I highly recommend the Yummy Cafe for it’s fresh healthy foods and it’s ability to satisfy an insatiable sweet tooth. The Yummy Cafe is located on the second floor of 5023 49th street (the little white building on the corner of 49th street and 51st avenue) in downtown Yellowknife. I just LOVE Yummy! Anytime I need to buy some food for a wine and cheese, I call them. I also recommend them to anyone who asks me if I know a good caterer. Keep up the awesome work!

Hey Shane, you slim guys drive me nuts. I would love to eat at the Yummy Cafe but probably would not fit through the door after a month or so of twice a day goodies!!

Hi Natalie! Glad I could point someone in the Yummy direction. I love the goodies there!
Yummy makes some awesome cakes totally from scratch. I think they are the only people in town to can take cake making to that level. I am considering ordering one for an occasion of my own.
Look forward to more comments from you!

Hi Shane — I’ve been reading your blog for about a month, in preparation for my move from Ottawa to Yellowknife. I’ve now been here in YK for a whole week, and I’m loving it! I had lunch at Yummy yesterday based on your review, and it was great.
Keep up the great work,
Tracy

I miss Yummy!!!
There ain’t nothing like it here in Montreal, but then again, there is only one Judy in the world, and Yellowknife is just lucky enough to have her!
Miss you!
