People Watching at the Folk on the Rocks

In this day and age every one and their dog (or cat) owns a digital camera. You probably have one on your mobile phone too. With so many digital cameras out there it is inevitable that there will be silly amounts of random digital photos that are never seen by anyone else but the person who owns the camera. I would go so far as to say – that is probably a good thing. However, there is some kind of magic about those random, un-posed, spontaneous “I never knew I was being photographed” photos that always seem the most interesting (at least when it is other people). Often, people spend more time looking at these random moments captured in time than the photos taken by professionals. Often they carry more personal meaning. Moreover, these spontaneous moments are in essence a true time capsule of who ‘we’ really are, which is what makes them either uncomfortable to look at for some people or amazing to see for others. Individually a random photo may not have much to say other than this is where “I was” at such and such a time. However, when you string a series of random photos together they start to tell a story about something. I would ‘not’ say the photos below are either uncomfortable or amazing but they are interesting and fun in their own way and maybe the photos tell a little story about Yellowknife that no one knew.
