Mountain Biking to Vee Lake, NWT
Posted on 07. Aug, 2009 by Shane in Mountain Biking Trips, Sports & Recreation
There certainly is no lack of options for mountain biking in Yellowknife. The road to Vee Lake, Northwest Territories was next on our list of places to conquer with our mountain bikes. Located on a turn-off just past Giant Mine on the Ingraham Trail, the Vee Lake road provided the four of us a decent gravel road with some off-road smooth rocky hilltops, small trails, bushwacking opportunities, scenic views, furry wildlife and a few surprises along the way. Check out our mountain biking trip to Vee Lake below.

While waiting for David to arrive we took a group portrait. From left to right: Troy, Shane and Matt.

David putting on his NWT summer cologne… Off and Deet. You need plenty of this stuff during the buggy months in the NWT.

Troy riding up to a rocky hilltop. Not sure why all these tires and oil cans were located all the way out here.

We discovered what appears to be a paint ball or airsoft setup on top of a rocky hilltop in the middle of the forest.

Troy, Matt and David contemplating the purpose of the small wooden pallet huts in the middle of nowhere.

The gravel road down to the Vee Lake boat launch. The road surface was very loose and rough most of the way.

5 KM and several exploratory detours later we made it to Vee Lake.

Found an abandoned, rusty, rolled over car that was surrounded by old blankets and shoes, which was a strange find out in the middle of nowhere.

After another detour we came across this creek. We believe it is called Baker Creek.
