Discovering the Reid Lake Park & Campground
Posted on 04. Aug, 2009 by Shane in Camping, Sports & Recreation
This August long weekend we had the opportunity to day camp for two days at the Reid Lake Territorial Park and campground in the Northwest Territories. Reid Lake is one of the many excellent camping and recreational spots that you can find along the Ingraham Trail approximately 60 km out of Yellowknife. We discovered that Reid Lake has excellent fishing, canoeing, kayaking, quading and hiking opportunites as well as offering the perfect mix of camping amenities and atmosphere for anyone needing to get away from Yellowknife for the weekend. Here are some of my Reid Lake photos to give you an idea of what you can expect to see. Please feel free to leave a comment below the photos.

While driving the Ingraham Trail you will notice that the highway is marked with small relective KM signs so that you know how far along you are. When you reach the 60 KM mark you see this large sign for the Reid Lake Campground on your right.

This is where you must check-in with the ‘very’ friendly park managers before heading to your campground. You can also buy your firewood here too.

Here are a few of the fishing boats back from a long day of great fishing on Reid Lake, NWT.

Lily Pads of Reid Lake, NWT. You can find these anywhere along the shoreline.

Here is Troy gathering extra firewood along the Ingraham Trail just north of Reid Lake.

Here is the entry road to Reid Lake, Territorial Park in the NWT.

Here is Sarah and Petra enjoying a few laughs – probably making fun of the photographer!

Walking to the Reid Lake Beach – just one of the tenters.

The children’s playground at Reid Lake, Territorial Campground, NWT.

The Reid Lake swimming area is marked off by blue and white buoys.

There is nothing like enjoying a refreshing cold b__r with hot sand under your feet and food on the BBQ.

We happened to be there for the annual Reid Lake Pig Roast. Look at all that meat!

Other campers, day trippers and fisherman enjoying the Reid Lake Pig Roast.

Troy Marsh stoking the fire with the help of mini-Troy back at the campsite.

One of the several outhouses at Reid Lake Campground. Whatever you do, do not rinse your dishes or wash your hands with the black hose. Apparently, the water is not for sanitary purposes.

A great view of Reid Lake, Territorial Park, NWT.

Another great view of Reid Lake, Territorial Park, NWT.

Zooming in the camera for a better look at the Reid Lake dock from a distance.

Sitting around the campfire with some folks at another campsite. It was 1:30 am. Shortly afterwards the campers broke out in song and started dancing.
