Hi Ashley,

Basically the two easiest ways to find accommodations in Yellowknife are...

Northern Property Website: http://www.npreit.com/apartment_select.php?pid=Yellowknife

YK Trader Website: http://www.yktrader.com/

If you are still having a challenge by the time you get here let me know of Facebook me through my Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=118316083120 or my profile: http://www.facebook.com/mrshanekeller

Good luck!

I think it would be interesting in the next municipal election if signs were banned. This would require more effort by the nominees to get their opinions and arguments out there, because I dont think signs change a single thing In Yellowknife. Brochures can be handed out, and tv / radio spots can be more utilized. This would force people the learn more about the people they are electing, and more accurately vote for someone who they think would best represent them.

You had me at 'Yummy'.
I was already dreaming of carb-loading at the YummyCafe, when you threw in a few kite-boarders!
I am stoked. More appropriately, WE are stoked.
DH, spawn, and I are moving to the 'Knife' this summer, and we were already giddy at the thought. Now you got kiteboarding!!!? We are so there.
Love your pics, love your blog! Cheers.

Hi Mongoose,

You also make an interesting point. But giving up a pet is easier said than done - RE: to "re-home" pets as you suggest. Pets often become considered members of the family. Some people treat them like they were their children. Not an easy discussion to have or a decision to make for the folks that end up with physical mobility issues.

Thank you for commenting,
Shane

Actually they do have an alternative which is to get a dog that they can exercise safely within their limited mobility. In your photos the person has two large dogs and a handicap tag... That's not good. If everyone in the household has limited mobility and can't walk two large dogs at least twice a day, then it would be kind to the dog to rehome them and get two chihuahuas instead. Those don't have much need for vigourous exercise.

That is a good point Kyle. And it is ok to be the Negative Nancy... (where did that term come from?).

I have not heard of that happening although I have seen a few regulars out there walking their dog(s) behind their vehicles on the colder of the cold days (always driving quite slow). I would point out that some of these people have physical mobility issues and have no alternative to walking their dogs like this.

Not everyone drives in front of their dogs on the ice road. As you have probably seen too, there are people who park on the ice road and walk their dogs along the side too.

Thank you for commenting!

Not to be the Negative Nancy, and they do like they are having fun but my heart races when I see this happening.
I know of two different dog that have died this way when they accidentally dart in front of their owners vehicle and get run over.
