Aurora Borealis in Yellowknife, August 30, 2009

The night was enhanced by a moving light show and all I had to do was look up at the sky to see it. The Aurora Borealis has been showing itself in Yellowknife just after midnight lately and I have been following it with close interest now that we have dark nights again. Tonight’s aurora borealis (aka. northern lights) was rich in greenish glows, vibrant reds and dancing violet ripples. It was not a powerful sub-storm aurora but it had some beautiful flickering and flashing moments. Here are a few of tonight’s aurora borealis photos taken close to downtown Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada.
